James Swindell Obituary

James M. “Mike” Swindell

If you are reading this, I have probably died.  I am/was James Michael (Mike) Swindell.  I was born January 13, 1946 in Nacogdoches.  I have spent most of my life in Nacogdoches and lived here when I died February 10, 2021.  I probably died of complications of Sarcoidosis (Google it).  My parents were Dr. J. A. Swindell and Valera (Harris) Swindell.  My family was always my main strength.  Family, to me, was not always dependent on a DNA connection as much as it was a love connection.

I spent many years exploring career opportunities, including work in vehicle maintenance, carpentry, welding, offshore oil exploration and tool design for the rubber industry.

I am also proud of my two marriages.  Even though the first lasted only 26 years and ended in divorce, it yielded two awesome children.  For that reason, I consider the marriage, at lease in part, a success.  My second marriage has been to a loving and faithful woman who has worked with me and loved me unconditionally.  Sharon (Tigrett) Swindell has been my partner since 1995, working to achieve goals, battling life’s problems and standing by me.  Thank you, Sharon.

It has been a fun life.  A lot of ups and downs but it has been interesting.  My spiritual beliefs have evolved and are now secular.  By now, I know who was right about an afterlife.

I was preceded in death by my parents, 3 brothers, Bill Swindell, Commerce, TX, Dr. Sam Swindell, Sulphur Springs, TX and Paul David Swindell, Nacogdoches, niece, Carol Ann Swindell, Austin, TX, nephew, Will Swindell, Commerce, TX, sister-in-law, Faye Swindell, Dallas, TX and nephew, Ricky Swindell, Nacogdoches.

I am survived by my wife, Sharon (Tigrett) Swindell, daughter, Kimberly A. Bradshaw, Nacogdoches, son, Michael and his wife Mary, Boyd, TX, step-daughter, Kim (McRoberts Butler, Alvin, TX step-son, Jason McRoberts, Nacogdoches; Grands, Conner Bradshaw, Claire Bradshaw, Brooke Butler, Ethan McRoberts, Nate Swindell; sister, Diane Swindell, Nacogdoches, sister-in-law Carole Swindell, Sulphur Springs, TX, plus nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Millard’s Crossing, for family only.  I would like to say, “I will see you there.” But that sounds a little creepy.  I’ll just say, “I hope you will attend.”  To my family, put my ashes anywhere in TEXAS but don’t keep them.  The next generation would not know/care what to do with them. LOL

In lieu of flowers, take your families out to dinner, and make a donation to the Janine Sarcoidosis Outreach Foundation, www.JSOF.org/donate (P.O. Box 1008, Alief, TX 77411)

If I ever told you, “I love you”, I meant it.
Please don’t forget me.
I plan to continue to exist as a ghost.  If you lied about me (I know who you are), I will haunt you by turning lights on and off, making bumping noises in the night, interrupting your sleep.  Don’t make me mad at you.  LOL
