Jimmy was born on February 4, 1936 in Nacogdoches to Morris and Emma Gene Nabours. He attended school in Nacogdoches, graduating high school in 1954. Jimmy was saved at the age of 17 and baptized at Fredonia Hill Baptist Church. This is where he and his high school sweetheart Patsy June Seale were later married. They were married for 66 years, having been married June 23, 1956. Jimmy retired from Nibco in 1997 and spent his retirement years doing the things he loved. He spent countless hours fishing on Sam Rayburn with friends and family. No one will ever be able to fry fish like our Papa. He loved to hunt and loved to make venison sausage for anyone who asked, spending hours in his “sausage shack” behind the house. He also spent much of his time outside working and mowing in the yard and pasture. Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife Patsy just last year and we take comfort in knowing that they are together again in the presence of Jesus. He and Patsy were members of Calvary Baptist Church and were both active in their Sunday School classes.
Jimmy was the 2nd of 8 children and learned at a very young age how to diaper a baby and take care of his younger siblings. Something that he had to teach Patsy when they began their family. He is survived by his three children, James (Terry) Nabours and his wife Lillian of New Braunfels, Tracy Nabours Vann and her husband Darrell of Castroville, and Amy Nabours Corley and husband Stephen of Lufkin. Nine grandchildren: Tyler Nabours (Wynne), Will Nabours (Alisha), Rebecca Nabours, Shanna Vann Kirkwood (Jeff), Michael Vann (Megan), Alyson Vann, Claire Corley Walker (Jordan), Clayton Corley and Cole Corley. And 7 great grandchildren. Jimmy also leaves behind his brothers, Buddy Nabours (Betty), Bobby Nabours (Paula), Larry Nabours (Tammy) and sisters Gloria Alders and Brenda Price (James). He was preceded in death by brother Billy Mac and sister Sue.
Special thanks to his pastor, Bro. Paul Sevar of Calvary Baptist Church. And to his youngest brother, Larry, who helped us look out for our Dad during this last year. Larry brought Dad a puppy (Sadie) that gave Dad someone to take care of and a good companion after Mom passed away.
