Mr. Adams passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026 in Nacogdoches.  He was born on September 19, 1941 in Center, Texas.

If there was ever someone who knew a little bit about a whole lot of things, it would be Cecil Adams.  He was constantly working on something, even if it wasn’t broken.  His curiosity led him to take things apart simply to see how they worked and he often learned how to fix things, just by “tinkering” as most called it.  He appreciated Elvis, Alan Jackson and pure country music, the kind played on KJ103.3.  He enjoyed coffee and in his later years, that turned to the occasional hot chocolate.  (Likely because he had a sweet tooth).  Cecil also loved banana pudding, of which he was awarded just about EVERY week and if he had his way, a hamburger would be at least twice a week.  He watched wresting and movies and found peace by simply sitting on the porch admiring what God made.  He was a son, a brother, a husband, father and grandfather.  And with that being said, there was nothing more important to him than his family.  He found his greatest blessings in his children and grandchildren and nothing was more rewarding to him than watching the kids play in the yard around him.  Living a simple life in the country, beside his bride of over 56 years was most pleasurable.  He met Jannette by chance in Nacogdoches and almost a year later, they were married.  He knew she was the other half of him and together, they raised their children, watched as their grandchildren grew and played and was more than content with the family they were given.  He will be missed enormously but never forgotten.

Cecil is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Jannette; children, Mike Adams & wife Cyndi, Matt Adams & wife Margaret, Mark Adams & wife Tammy, David Adams & wife Lasonia, Janet Ferguson & husband Robbie, Theresa Adams and Joyce Ady & husband Terry; 21 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; siblings, Audrey Dale, Billy Wayne and Jimmy Dale and sister-in-law, Shirley Adams.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Bobby Joe Adams and Betty Rushing and son-in-law, Thomas Simmons.

Serving as pallbearers will be Edward Jernigan, C.J. Scallan, Kyle McCardle, Dustin Ferguson, Robby Ferguson and Jerry Moore.
