Jacob Berry Obituary

Funeral services for Jacob Berry, 25, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Laird Funeral Home. Interment will follow at McRae Cemetery in San Augustine, Texas. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the funeral service.

On February 25, 1997, a most handsome little boy named Jacob Colt Berry was born with the sweetest heart. This little boy grew up to be one of the finest young men you could have ever met. He left us all too soon on June 13, 2022, at the age of 25, to be with our wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jacob loved any and all kinds of fishing no matter how big or small and could often be found on Lake Naconiche in his kayak. He hunted deer, ducks, hogs, and the elusive alligators in the bottom. He enjoyed playing golf, but would rather have been playing frisbee golf with Shayne. Riding his motorcycles was also something he really enjoyed, especially when he was exploring new places. Going on new and exciting adventures were always at the top of his list, and he could hardly ever pass up buying antiques that piqued his interest. Jacob “never met a stranger”. He loved meeting and talking to new people, and always left them as a friend. His friends were always very important to him, and there are way too many of them to count. The biggest legacy that I believe he left behind was to always be giving of yourself, kind to others, and always…always…have fun!

Jacob left behind his father, Michael W. Berry of Comanche, TX, mother, Michelle Pike Berry of Nacogdoches, TX, brother, Joshua Berry and sister, Sadie Berry, both of Comanche, TX. Others who will miss his beautiful smile and hugs are his grandmothers, Opal Pike of San Augustine, TX and Joy Berry, of Mt. Pleasant, TX. He will also be missed by his uncles, Ed Pike of Nacogdoches, TX and Tracy Pike of San Augustine, TX and his aunt, Prissy Ellis of Mt. Pleasant, TX. He leaves behind numerous other aunts and cousins who he held close to his heart, and they will also miss him dearly.

Jacob was preceded in death by his grandpas, Albert E. Pike, Sr. of San Augustine, TX and Patrick W. Berry of Martinsville, TX, as well as his childhood pet, Bandit. Pallbearers for Jacob will be his dear friends and family: Julio Aguilar, Shayne Gaddy, Micah Johnson, Clayton Tannery, Colin Tannery, and Jonathan Webster
