Jack Richard Gardner Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, and went to be with Jesus. He was born on December 11, 1942, in Houston, Texas, to J.B. and Frank Alice Gardner. He moved to Weldon, Texas, at the age of 13, and when he was 16, he accepted Jesus as his Savior.
After graduating from Lovelady High School in 1960, he attended Sam Houston State University. He met the love of his life, Molly Allen, in high school; they married in August of 1963 after Jack graduated from college. Jack received his master’s degree in poultry nutrition from the University of Missouri. He went on to work at Holly Farms and then Tyson Foods, dedicating 40 years of his life to the poultry business. He cherished all the friendships he formed with both employees and growers.
Jack enjoyed his fellowship with the men at First Baptist Church Nacogdoches, where he served as a deacon and led a men’s Bible study. He had a heart for ministry and a passion for sharing his testimony, always eager to help others come to know the Lord.
He was a loving father to Carol Norris (and her husband, Pat) and Richard (and his wife, Julie). He was a treasured “Pop” to Aubrey (and her husband, Austin), Berek (and his wife, Grace), Caleigh, Caitrin, Kylee, Gavin, and great-grandson, Tripp. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Gerry Gardner, and his nephews, Bradley Gardner and Brandon Gardner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Frank Alice Gardner; his brother, Bennie Frank Gardner; and his great-grandson, Ryker Teodorczyk.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Heartbeat Pregnancy Center, a cause that was dear to his heart.
