Mr Ballard passed away on May 25, 2023 in Houston, Texas. He was born on May 27, 1934 in Woden, Texas.

Hulon loved to travel.  His favorite times doing this were on a cruise or with his travel trailer in tow.  He was a hard-working man all of his life and taught this wonderful quality to his children.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and all things to do with Woden Basketball.  He was one of their biggest fans and made every game he could.  This passion for sports started from a young age when he played basketball for Panola Junior College.  Hulon owned B&H Welding for many years and was good at his chosen profession.  He always kept an immaculate yard and truly loved being outdoors.  Another great pastime he took part in was playing dominoes and he was quite good at it.  Among his other talents were wood working, building and repairing things.  However, more than anything else, Hulon loved his family.  He taught many lessons over the years including giving his children the chances to make mistakes and learn from them.  He taught his sons how to build and fix things and made sure his daughter had life lessons to hold on to but for all his children and grandchildren, he taught them the value of hard work.  He will always be remembered as a good friend, a good man and for his dedication to being a great member of the Woden community.  Most recently, his caregivers commonly described him as “the sweetest man” and completely agreed with what he had been told all his life, that he had the prettiest blue eyes!

Hulon is survived by a daughter, Becky Hurst of Nacogdoches; sons, Ralph Ballard of Nacogdoches and Darrell Ballard & wife Robin of Loveland, Colorado; grandchildren, Ian Ballard & wife Kelcie, Regina Acosta & husband Jason, Clay Hardeman and Eryn Ballard; great grandchildren, Sydney Acosta, Gavin Acosta, Juniper Ballard and his newest blessing planned to arrive in October.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kirby and Mamie Ballard; wife, Margie Ballard; sisters, Gertrude Owens and Maureen Ballard; brothers, Vernon Ballard, JT Ballard, Cecil Ballard, Hubert Ballard and Travis Ballard; and a son-in-law, Denny Hurst.

Serving as pallbearers are Jason Acosta, Ralph Ballard, Darrell Ballard, Brady Taylor, Stephen Wilson, Ty Wilson and Gavin Acosta.
