Glenda Whittaker Obituary

A memorial service for Glenda Whittaker, 90, of Nacogdoches, Texas, will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Laird Funeral Home.

Glenda was born in Beaumont, Texas to Luther Grady and Lula Elizabeth Hilliard.  She grew up in East Texas and moved to Houston at the age of 8.  She met her husband of 63 years, Donald Whittaker, on a blind date while she attended the University of Houston.  They were married 6 months later.  She followed Don to Germany for a year then they moved to Dallas where they added their son Craig to the family.  Some years later, they relocated to Houston and welcomed their daughter Cindy.  Glenda enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching the Discovery Channel.  She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. 

Glenda passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Nacogdoches, Texas.  She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her brothers Maurice Hilliard and V. E. Hilliard, sisters Maureen Bakken and Judy Hilliard.  Glenda is survived by her son Craig and wife Terri Whittaker of Houston; Daughter Cindy and husband Barry Smith of Nacogdoches; Grandchildren: Leah and Sheldon Hoesli, Rachel Whittaker and Brett Broadwater, Dalton and Brittney Robertson, Cole and Bridget Robertson, Michaela and Brandon Robles, their father Michael Robertson. Six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
