George L Partin

Graveside services for George L. Partin, 83, of Nacogdoches, TX, will be held at 2 pm Monday, May 1, 2023 at Fairview Cemetery.

Mr. Partin passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023 in Nacogdoches, TX. He was born on December 23, 1939.

George was raised from a young age to know the value of a hard day’s work.  He grew up in the era of parents teaching outstanding morals and the abilities needed to raise and support a family.  He went to school at Nacogdoches High School and then attended Stephen F. Austin State University.  He was a very talented football player throughout both high school and college.  He and Barbara met and were married for over 50 years when he had the hard task of saying goodbye to her.  He loved her endlessly and their family was of utmost importance to him.  He spent over 20 years working at Nibco and was then able to enjoy the farming life he found so enjoyable.  Being a country boy was exactly what he was.  He loved horses and was a part of the Old Spanish Trail Ride for many years, as well as spending lots of days on the trails of East Texas with family and friends.  However, he had another love that pulled him away…FISHING!  He spent every moment he could on the lake enjoying the beautiful views and throwing a hook.  And when he was at home, enjoying his time relaxing, he was sure to be joined by his little buddy, “Pocket”. 

George was a simple man who had a heart the size of the great state he lived in.  He was a dad and Pappaw to his grandchildren and talked about them every time he could.  He was also a man of his word and always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.  His kindness and the way he loved on those around him will never be forgotten by those who were lucky enough to be a part of his life.

George is survived by his children, Mitchell Lynn Partin, Darla Partin, Edward Ray Sturgis, Eldon Ray Partin and Cindy Varner & husband, Patrick; grandchildren, Jonerra Lynn Partin, Justin Hopkins, Damon Wagoner, Michael Lynn Sturgis, Josh Sturgis, Taylor Brook Sturgis, Shelby Sturgis, Cassidy Partin, Chance Partin and Nikki Johnson; great grandchildren, Ava, Kaden, Carson, Kaleigh, Corbin and another one on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucielle Partin and his precious wife, Barbara.
