Funeral services for Gayland James Poskey, 74, of Nacogdoches will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Mt. Union Church officiated by Bro. Kenneth Rector. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Mr. Poskey passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025 at home surrounded by his 3 girls. He was born on July 17, 1951, in Nacogdoches to James and Audrey Faye (Self) Poskey.
Gayland grew up in Nacogdoches, graduating from Nacogdoches High School in 1970. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at R. R. Donnelly Printing Company (Moore Business Forms) until he retired after 42 years. Gayland was the epitome of an outdoorsman. He enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing. If he wasn’t out hunting and fishing, he was porch sitting or under a shade tree somewhere. Gayland was a master fixer. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. Gayland loved his family, especially his kids and grandkids. He adored his wife, Paula, the love of his life, but he also enjoyed giving her a hard time. Gayland will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Gayland is survived by his loving wife, Paula; daughters, Stephanie Heflin and husband, Greg, Kristy McGuire and husband, Shady, and Amy Williams; sons, Jeremy Robinson and fiancé, Tamika Russell, and Trent Williams and fiancé, Shae Pritchard; grandchildren, Walker McGuire and fiancé, Anna, Kelsi Salas, Ezra Britt, Ari Britt, and Sutton Williams; sisters, Carolyn Lujan, Theresa Carson and husband, Raymond, and Cindy Luna and husband, Kevin; brothers, Kenneth Poskey and wife, Sandra, and Ronnie Poskey and wife, Robin and brother-in-law, Darrell Luna. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members that he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Audrey Faye Poskey; sister, Mary Luna; and brother-in-law, Bill Lujan.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Poskey, Chris Poskey, Walker McGuire, Greg Heflin, Shady McGuire and Mark Tatum.
