Frankie McClurg Obituary

Graveside service for Frankie "Gaga" McClurg, 90, of Nacogdoches will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, January 27, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Park with Bro. Jason Lott officiating.

Mrs. McClurg passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 in Garrison.  She was born on March 13, 1933 in the Lilbert Community.

Frankie was a member of First Baptist Church where she actively helped with bible memory drills and vacation bible schools. She also helped with the needs of the shut-ins, visiting and providing for those who relied on others for what they needed.  She loved the Lord and made sure she shared it with others every chance she got.  She was very dedicated to praying for anyone who asked and many times for those she didn't even know.  Impressively, she kept a record of who she was praying for and why they needed such prayers, often taking time to check in and see just how her prayers were being answered. Her love of Christ led her to making journals of scriptures which simply defined her dedication and love for her Father and prepared her in the life she lived for Him.  She knew she would be ready when Jesus called her home and knowing this brought such peace to her family.

"Gaga" as most knew her, spent her lifetime in service of others.  She worked for the City of Nacogdoches for Judge Raines for over 27 years.  She humbly volunteered with HOPE and Love INC, where she had many friends that made her life even more enjoyable.  Gaga loved working in her flower beds and strolling along in the neighborhood.  She also loved animals and would often make shelters for cats around the area, leaving them food and water to sustain them until she could return.  (She was also known to bring a few of them home).

She loved her family dearly and had no greater joy than when she was surrounded by those she loved the most.  Her life was filled with many memories that will forever last in the hearts of those whom they belong to, as well as with her close group of friends that she played dominoes with each week.

Frankie is survived by her granddaughter, Brandy Crisp & husband, David and grandson, David Boatman; great grandchildren, Jake Crisp & fiance Riley Farrell, Ivy Crisp and Kymber Boatman.  She is also survived by Mac McClurg & wife, Lisa, Lew McClurg & wife, Vickie, Angel Baxter, Candy McClurg, Andrea Jacobs, Kimberly Shapiro, Todd McClurg and their families.

She is preceded in death by parents, Jesse Robert and Edith Nadine Petty Ivy; husband, Ed McClurg; daughter, Derinda Hardy Boatman and brother, Ralph Ivy.

The family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Nacogdoches Treatment Center at 119 Hughes Street, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961 or Love INC at 917 Ruby Street, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961.

A special thanks goes to Garrison Nursing Home and Hospice of East Texas for their unequivocal and dedicated care shown to Gaga.  There are no words to describe the appreciation for these wonderful and devoted groups of people.

In her own loving, yet persuasive manner, Gaga made sure to leave a few of her favorite scriptures to share with everyone as we remember her life filled with Christ:

*Psalms 51:10 ~ "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me."

*Romans 8:1-3 ~ "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh"

*Proverbs 18:10 ~ "The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it and is safe."
