Frances Wilson

Funeral service for Frances D. (Edwards) Wilson, 86, of Nacogdoches will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at East Side United Pentecostal Church with Bro. Ennis Fuller and Bro. Tim Fuller officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wilson passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024 in Nacogdoches.  She was born on September 18, 1938.

To love and be loved is ultimately what every woman’s heart needs.  Frances absolutely had that.  She was a daughter, sister, wife and mother.  She loved unconditionally and was loved beyond measure.  Her life was incredibly blessed. 

Frances was born in Flatwoods, Louisiana, the daughter of Jeff and Leola Edwards and they preceded her in death.  As a young woman she worked as a waitress at The Plantation Bell in Boyce, Louisiana.  Her life changed for the better when she caught the eye of a truck driver who stopped by every once in a while.  George was an East Texas fella and he knew she was something special.  One day he told her on his next trip, he wanted to scoop her up and “Waltz across Texas” and that is exactly what happened. They were married on October 7, 1972 and began their life together making many lasting memories.  During her time here, she worked many years for Dr. Robert and Ruth Carroll, who became like family to her and George.

Frances also enjoyed cooking, working in her flower bed, and spending time with her daughter, Anita.  She was also a dedicated member of East Side United Pentecostal Church.

Frances is survived by her husband, George Wilson of Nacogdoches; daughter, Anita Smashey & husband, Ron of Nacogdoches; grandson, T.J. Miles; brother-in-law, Don Wilson & wife, Girdie and one great granddaughter.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, JB Edwards & wife Doris and Leonard Edwards & wife Patricia.

Serving as pallbearers will be T.J. Miles, Ronnie Luman, Bubba Turner, Richard Thorn, Kenneth Hudson, Joey Fuller and Michael Thorn.
