Frances Crownover Obituary

A Celebration of Life will be held for Frances Crownover at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Garrison Funeral Home.

Frances Elaine “Nana” Crownover was born August 24, 1943, in Laredo, Tx.  She entered peacefully into rest at the age of 81 on July 18, 2025, in Nacogdoches, Texas.  Fran lived a life marked by love for her family and devotion to her animals with a spirited personality that left an impression on all who knew her.  A graduate of Pleasanton High School, she was a majorette in the Pleasanton Eagle marching band.  She retired as the Business Manager's Administrative Assistant at Garrison ISD where her dedication and wit were deeply appreciated.  In April of 1985, she married the love of her life, Charlie Crownover, affectionately known as "Mr. C" or “Poppy.”  Together they shared three decades filled with laughter, love, and the occasional barnyard chaos.

Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie; parents Warner Lewis and Essie Louise Musick Lewis; sister, Billye Sowell and brother Bobby Lewis.  She is survived by her loving children: Robert Reynolds and wife Deanna; Leasa Lunsford and husband Darrell Jr. and Dina Reynolds.  Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Danni Amos and husband Damein; Morgan Meyer and husband Justin; Austin Lunsford and wife Britainie; Chance Lunsford and Blake Reynolds and wife Haley.  Nana was blessed with great-grandchildren Kyndal and Tatum Meyer; Dutton and Deuce Amos and Remi Lunsford. She also leaves behind two loyal K-9 family members, Dally and Dually Crownover and feline Kat Crownover.

Known affectionately as “Nana,” Fran found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her home was often filled with their laughter during visits—especially around Christmas time, which was her favorite holiday.

A true animal lover at heart, Nana had a deep connection with all creatures great and small.  She took special pride in caring for her horses, dogs, cats, and birds. Her barn—fondly referred to as her “happy place”—was where she felt most at peace.  Whether feeding animals or simply enjoying the quiet company of nature, it was there that she found solace.  She also enjoyed pampering herself with trips to get her nails and hair done—a reflection of the sassiness that made her so endearing.  She spent many contented hours in her garage watching her birds or out among the animals she adored.

Those who knew Fran will remember a woman who was intelligent, loving, sassy, strong willed—and above all—devoted to those she held dear. Her memory will live on through the lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the East Texas Angel Network or charity of your choice.
