Eula Miley Obituary

Funeral Services for Eula Miley, 81, of Nacogdoches will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery in the Moral Community with Bro. Brad Hudson officiating.

Mrs. Eula Miley passed away on March 25, 2022, in Nacogdoches. She was born on May 4, 1940, in Winnfield, Louisiana.

Eula was born and reared in rural Winnfield, Louisiana. She loved exploring the outdoors and working with her hands. She was a daddy’s girl at heart and would do her best to be next to him whether he was planting the season’s crop or traveling through town. It was during this time in her life that she found a love for tending gardens. When she moved out on her own and bought her own land, she covered every acre in flowers and vegetables. The only thing she loved more than being outside, was cooking the old-fashioned way. Growing up, her mother taught her how to cook the southern way and no dish went without a proper amount of seasoning. All through the rest of Eula’s life, she would reminisce about her childhood and reflect on all the wonderful skills her parents taught her.

From Eula’s plentiful gardens, came plentiful rewards. Everything that Eula grew, she either ate or canned. Everything that she cooked and baked was made from scratch. Nothing went to waste around her. If she couldn’t store it, or her pantry got full, she’d make food to feed anyone and everyone. She was known to even invite strangers to Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and there was still plenty to eat. Everyone that knew Eula, knew that she’d never let you go hungry, and she’d never let you eat before saying a blessing. Being served Eula’s cooking meant that you got the best. Not only was Eula good at cooking but cleaning too. She knew every trick in the book to clean even the hardest of stains. After a gathering, she made sure her house was tidy, and that everything was put back in its proper place. Eula always knew where things were, and if she didn’t then there was a major problem. Eula wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and overall, enjoyed to be independent. In the end, she did everything that she loved until she was no longer able to.

Eula is survived by her daughters, Cindy Patterson and Rebecca Griswold and husband, Shawn; son, Robbie Hyde; grandchildren, Angela Ross and husband, Davis, Kenneth Hudson and wife, Joni, Brad Hudson and wife, Kimberly, William Hyde, Kaylee Fleuret, Kaden Fleuret, and Kolten Fleuret; great-grandchildren, Carl Smith, Shelby Ross, Elliott Hudson, Colt Hudson, Cade Hudson, and Codie Hudson; niece, Donna Green and husband, Terry and son Justin Reed.

Eula is preceded in death by her parents Ruben Lee Bonnett, and Bertie Bee Bonnet (Franks); son, Terry Hyde; and sister, Betty Hyde.
