Ernestine Cox Halbert, 87, of Frisco, Texas transitioned to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, October 12th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Her greatest joys in life were her family, friends, and faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ. Ernestine was a church secretary and played the organ and piano much of her life. She loved music, baking cookies and preparing meals for others, watching Westerns, and a good laugh.
Born on November 22, 1935, in Nacogdoches, Texas to Ernest and Vina Kelley Cox, Ernestine attended and graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1952. She was invited to attend the Church of the Nazarene where she met the love of her life, Lee Halbert. They were married on October 8th, 1955.
Ernestine enjoyed her work at McCrory’s Five and Dime, a secretary for Texas Farm Products, a secretary for the Nacogdoches Church of the Nazarene and University Baptist Church. She was a greeter at Oakley Metcalf Funeral Home and Laird Funeral Home for many years.
Her life changed when she became a widow at the age of 49, but God was faithful and carried her through those lonely years. Her faith can be summed up by her favorite Bible verse, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid…for the Lord your God goes with you: he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
