Earlon Stinson Obituary

Funeral serivce for Earlon Stinson, 72, of Graniteville, South Carolina (formerly of Nacogdoches) will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Laird Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held from 1:00pm - 2:00pm prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Eden Cemetery.

Mr. Stinson passed away October 26, 2021, in Augusta, Georgia.

Earlon Glenn Stinson was born on April 20, 1949 to Vernon and Alpha Mae Rector Stinson.  Earlon was one of 4 boys and their parents raised them to be the men they were supposed to be.  Earlon and his brothers were the typical fun loving, adventurous boys that grew up with the love of family and the teachings of stern parents.  All four boys were taught the value of a dollar and the skills to go make that dollar for themselves.

Earlon then raised his two sons in the same manner.  He was so proud of Richard and Jackie and the families they had.  His heart was full of the love of grandchildren and he loved spending time with them.

From a young age, Earlon knew he wanted to drive a truck to carry on the legacy of his father.  He had a great passion for trucking and through the years, he made many friends in the business.  His love of all things trucking led to his great obsession with the CB Radio.  He was proud to be called “525 Slow Motion” in South Carolina but was even more proud of being known as “Jackrabbit” in his home state of Texas.   Earlon kept in contact with friends and fellow truckers through his CB and even recently when he was no longer driving a truck, his constant thrill came from being able to stay in touch with them through the CB at home.

Although most of his life was spent driving a truck across many miles and through various states, he was also a great mechanic and a talented fabricator.

Earlon’s jokes and laughter, his support of his family and friends and the way he made everyone feel safe, welcomed and loved will forever be missed.  His smile and boisterous ways will forever be remembered by those who loved him the most.

Earlon is survived by his sons, Richard Stinson and wife, Cindy and Jackie Stinson and wife, Suzanne all of Nacogdoches; grandsons, Dustin, Justin and Bradley; and great grandchildren, Klaira, Dustin, Little Justin, Carey and Skylar.  He is also survived by Shirley who had been married to when he was in South Carolina.  Tina Mosley and Michelle Magrogan, who he still considered family, also survive him.

Earlon is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Alpha Mae Stinson and brothers, Ricky, Pee Wee and Vernon, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Randy Bass, Bones Barrett, Bud Vardeman, Danny Roland, Jason Smith and Justin Stinson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Means, Don Hetrick and Aaron Broadway.
