Dwain Christopher Obituary

Graveside service for Dwain A. Christopher, 77, of Nacogdoches will be held at 2pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Alazan Cemetery with Bro. Ennis Fuller and Bro. Brian Kinnaman officiating.  Visitation will be held at 1:30pm prior to Service at Alazan Cemetery.

Mr. Christopher passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in Nacogdoches.

Dwain Christopher was born on December 4, 1946 in Beaumont, TX, to Aaron and Bernice DeShazo Christopher.  He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. Upon his return, he worked jobs including Southern Pacific Railroad, TDCJ, and the Duncan Unit of TDCJ in Diboll. He made his home in Alazan, where he spent the rest of his days.

His family was of utmost importance to him and from their youngest ages, he taught them all the things they needed to be successful adults.  Dwain showed them daily, by the life he led, how they were to be as adults.  His teachings of the hard things and the simple things will forever live in their minds as some of the best advice they ever were given.  He loved Karla, his kids and his grandchildren and made no justifications for putting them first in everything he did.  He was a simple man with a heart of gold who would help anyone who needed it.  He loved the stillness and solitude of being in the woods hunting or on the water, fishing.  He enjoyed spending his mornings drinking coffee with his buddies at Yakofritz Landing and Denny’s.

Dwain will forever be remembered as the man who stood firm for what he believed in, helped his neighbor if they needed it, supported his family and made sure all of those he loved were taken care of.

Dwain is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Karla Christopher; children, Kyla Hicks & husband Douglas, April Fuller & husband, Brian, Rochell Packard & husband, Steven, LaWanda Rushing & husband, Aaron, Angela Simas & husband, Brian and Jeffery Charon; grandchildren, Kale, Korbin, Vivian, Bryce, Aubry, Josh, Gracen, Dylan, Dominick, Aaron, Jessika, Kevin, Trentin, Azilyn, Karl and Kenzy; 4 great grandchildren and 1 additional one expected this summer.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Karen Patton and brother-in-law, Steve Thornburgh & wife Wendi.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dennis Christopher.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Kale Hicks, Douglas Hicks, Bryce Fuller, Gracen Packard, Dylan Packard, Steve Thornburgh, Steven Packard and Brian Fuller.
