Dr. Edwin C. Emborgo

A Funeral Mass for Dr. Edwin C. Emborgo, 66, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 4:00pm on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:30pm on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Laird Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 7:30pm.  

Edwin “Toto” Concerman Emborgo, 66, passed away on July 4, 2026, in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Edwin was born in Wao, Lanao Del Sur, Philippines to Aludio Sumbillo Emborgo, Sr. and Sofia Mahinay Concerman Emborgo on February 2, 1960.  He grew up in both Wao and Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. He finished high school at Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan de Oro City.  He went to medical school at the University of Santo Thomas and completed his general surgery residency at St. Luke’s Medical Center - Quezon City.  He also completed a family medicine residency at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine and spent the last 15+ years in rural Emergency Medicine. 

Edwin was known for being selfless, humble, gentle, generous and empathetic - a man with a genuine soul and an unforgettable smile.  He lit up the lives of everyone he met, radiating a deep optimism and a beautiful, boyish wonder and excitement for life.  He was a father who always put others before himself, a devotion that was clearly reflected in the boundless care he gave his children and his lifelong commitment to medicine.  Although he raised a beautiful family of six children and balanced a demanding career, he still joyfully spent his free time on the farm, catering to a lively assortment of alpacas, peacocks, goats, chickens, dogs and cats as a hobby.  He was a brother of his medical school fraternity, Tau Mu Sigma Phi (Thomasian Medical Students Fraternity) and a member and donor of Tau Mu Sigma Phi USA Foundation, Inc.

He was a role-model father, a loving husband, a kind brother, a doting grandfather and a brilliant physician.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially by his family, friends, and the Nacogdoches community he served so faithfully.

Edwin is survived by his wife, Maritess Galicia Emborgo; his children, Dr. Trisha Sofia Emborgo, Dr. Tristan Gabriel Emborgo, Daniela Marinela Emborgo, Tiffany Galicia Emborgo and Tanya Galicia Emborgo; his grandson, Isaiah Edwin Retuya; his brother, Aludio C. Emborgo, Jr.; his sisters, Dr. Myrlene Emborgo Escalante, Engr. Evelyn Mills, Nurse Evangeline Emborgo Fernandez, Dr. Eddelyn Emborgo Fullante and Dr. Marie Arlene Emborgo Azada and his son-in-law, Joseph Emmanuel Retuya.

He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Rafael Emborgo and his brothers, Joebert Concerman Emborgo and Engr. Ricky Concerman Emborgo.
