Dovey Pleasant Obituary

Visitation for Dovey Pleasant, 79, of Nacogdoches, will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 14, 2021.

Dovey Tate Pleasant, also known as “Nanny” was born on October 7, 1942, the daughter of DeeRoy and Willine Johnson Tate.  From an early age in Dallas, Texas she fell in love with Bobby Pleasant.  His ’57 Chevy caught her eye and she told stories of this car many times!  The two of them married and spent a wonderful 51 years side by side until his passing in 2010.  Dovey loved him completely and missed him terribly.  She longed for the day she would be reunited with him in Heaven.  She simply did not like living life without him.

Dovey and Bobby raised their children with love and taught them many things over the years.  When they were grown, and brought the love of grandchildren into their lives, they were the happiest they could be.  Dovey loved with her whole heart and the special rewards of having children came with the even better life with grandchildren.  She always made sure her “kids” were taken care of.  They knew she was there if they needed her but just in case they forgot, she often reminded her them with a simple southern “I love y’all”.  Dovey had many talents and passions, but most of all, she was an outstanding cook and no one could beat her holiday chicken and dressing.  Holidays were her favorite time of year and she always made them special.

Her life calling was to be a mother and grandmother, of which she accomplished with ease.  She also gained her Certified Nurse Aide license, an accomplishment she was very proud of.  She enjoyed sewing, art and animals.  However, her love of music is what will carry on most in the lives and memories of those closest to her.  She was a wonderful vocalist and wrote many musical pieces.  She and Teresa wrote and sang together while Carol, Robert and the grandchildren enjoyed every minute they got to spend listening to her voice.   Their memories are also filled with happy times as they went camping and simply lived their life alongside their mother and Nanny.  She was a great role model and made sure to teach her family to love and support each other and above all, to love The Lord.  She was a dedicated and loyal follower of Jesus Christ and loved reading her bible.

Dovey is survived by her children, Teresa Jordan & husband, Harold, Carol Comstock & husband, Robert White and Robert Pleasant & wife, April all of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Ashley Jordan of Temple, Trey Pleasant of Nacogdoches, Josh Minyard of Whitesboro, Crystal Courvelle of Nacogdoches, Casey Comstock & Tiffany of Nacogdoches, Levi Comstock & Brittany of Nacogdoches, April Morin & Nick of Virginia Beach, Autumn White of Denton and Savannah White of Houston; sisters, Darlene Rawlinson of Nacogdoches and Billie Perkins & husband, Michael of Crowley; Hadley Bangle, Madelynne Bangle, Braden Pate, Brylynn Comstock, Kalub Comstock, Hayley Comstock, Elias Comstock, Isaac Morin and Ethan Morin.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Pleasant; parents, DeeRoy and Willine Tate; son-in-law, Shane Comstock; grandson-in-law, Richard Courvelle and nephew, Ricky Sykes.
