David Mark Allen was born on October 8, 1966 in Lufkin. He passed away in Tyler on Saturday, August 28, 2021. Mark loved everyone he knew and everyone he knew loved him. He will be remembered for his wit and charm and the smile that was always on his face. Caregivers that have known him developed a close bond with him. Mark lived in Angelina and Nacogdoches counties most of his life before moving to Tyler to be closer to his brother.
Mark was a graduate of Lufkin High School. Mark has several medals from his participation in Special Olympics competition and was happiest when he was surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was known for his infectious laugh and enjoyed the times spent shopping with his brother or simply sitting and playing video games. However, Mark likely enjoyed time with his nephew Cole, more than most things. They had a special bond and constantly teased each other. Mark was so proud of the young man Cole was becoming. He would sit for hours watching Cole at baseball practice and band practice. When Mark couldn’t be with Jack or Cole, he was content with his wordsearch puzzles or watching old westerns. He also looked forward to holidays each year when he was able to spend time giving thanks for what he had and, if the timing was right, he got to help decorate the Christmas tree.
Mark is survived by his brother, Jack Allen and wife, Shelly and nephew, Cole David Allen. He is also survived by several other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Hazel Jones Allen.
