Charles Perkins Obituary

Charles Larry Perkins, 75, of Nacogdoches, passed away on March 27, 2025, in Nacogdoches. He was born on December 9, 1949, in Nacogdoches, to the late Ralph Ray and Rose Rachel (Poskey) Perkins.

Charles was mostly known as Larry or Chuck by all of his friends, and he was a relatively simple man. He loved all genres of music, car books, cookouts with the family, but mostly he just loved to have a good time and was always ready to have one. You never had to look far for Larry because he was always in his car listening to the radio, smoking his cigarettes, reading his books, and of course drinking him a cold beverage. He was in the United States Army and was drafted at the age of 21 where he served for 1 year and three months in the Vietnam War.

He is survived by one daughter Melody Perkins Talbert & husband Matt Talbert; Grand Daughter: Mallory Talbert; Grandson John Talbert who all live in Sterlington; Louisiana along with numerous members of his chosen family here in Nacogdoches that includes his companion for the last 25 years Jennie Bush which he shared a beautiful life with and once together blended their families... This includes David and Cindy Watson of Nacogdoches, Lisa Bush Driver of Gary Bibby and Jimmy Dyson of Nacogdoches and Camille and Bradley Pinkston of Woden and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was a very devoted caretaker of Jennie and did everything to make her life better. He pampered and spoiled her. He was a kind and caring man not easily angered or bothered by much. He had a servant's heart and was always quick to help anyone in need. He was a bass player in a local band in his younger years. He was also a very talented artist. To know him was to love him.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date in memory of a life well lived.
