Funeral services for Carolyn Ann (Burgess) Alden, 81, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Laird Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Laird Funeral Home. Interment will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Oakridge Cemetery in Catlin, Illinois. Mrs. Alden passed away on March 17, 2026, in Nacogdoches. She was born on December 18, 1944, in Danville, Illinois.
Carol grew up in the Danville, Illinois area. She graduated from Jamaica High School. Carolyn always had a love of taking care of others. That led her to obtain her CNA and Phlebotomy license.
Carol met the love of her life, Lawrence Cameron Alden, on a blind date while living in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. They were wed on June 8, 1968. The two formed a family through their love that lasted until his death in 2011.
Carol enjoyed the simple things in life. She was a wiz at playing cards. Carol enjoyed traveling and gardening. Her love of others was felt by her visits to friends and taking in numerous stray cats.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Linda Carol Alden and partner, Corey Reynolds; sons, Lawrence Cameron Alden, Jr. and wife, Kellie, Louis Clifton Alden, and wife, Amanda, and Donald Wayne Alden; grandchildren, DJ Johnson and wife, Leigh, Kyle Plotts, Rochelle Latta, Natalie Alden, Ian Alden, Phillip Rubenacker, Bryan Rubenacker, and Ryan Rubenacker; great-grandchild, Declan Latta.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Cameron Alden; parents, Louis Burgess and wife, Helen, and Mary (Allison) Rouse and husband, Reed; sister, Gayle Mann; and brother, Louis Burgess, Jr.
