Memorial services for Carolyn Wood, 74, of Timpson will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Laird Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Laird Funeral Home. 

Carolyn Ruth Wood entered her heavenly home on Monday, June 28, 2021, in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born on January 30, 1947, in Texas City to parents, Ebb Ellis Faircloth and Wilma Ruth Smith. Carolyn spent most of her life in Galveston County where she graduated from Texas City High School in 1965 and then attended Lee Junior College in Baytown.

Carolyn met the love of her life at Heights Baptist Church in Texas City in November of 1963, and Dave never recovered. He was instantly in love with Carolyn and couldn’t wait to meet her again. Their first date was on a rainy evening in his 1930 Model A Ford. It leaked so badly, they both wore raincoats inside the car! The evening was not dampened, however, and they spent it playing games and laughing with friends. On April 24th, 1965, they got married at Heights Baptist Church right where they first met. Their marriage was waterproof for 56 years. They raised three children: Carol Lee, Barbie, and John all being born in Texas City. Carolyn and Dave worked together through good and bad, thick and thin, rich and poor; today, she walks on gold he walks below, but both walk with God.

Carolyn worked as a secretary and classroom supervisor in Christian Education for 20 years at Heights Baptist Christian School in Texas City, and Maranatha Baptist Christian School in San Leon. She often volunteered with Child Evangelism Fellowship and taught Sunday School along with working Vacation Bible School for many years. During all this teaching, she was a housewife and mother, raising their children in a loving home but with strict discipline and knowing their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Later on, down the road, she held Ladies’ Bible Studies in her home welcoming all to come in and discuss biblical thing. Carolyn was a wonderful, Godfearing woman, who loved her husband and children with all her heart and will be missed dearly.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Dave Wood of Timpson; daughter, Carol Searle and husband, Jeff of San Leon, and Barbara Booth-Harrison and husband, J.R. of League City; son, John Wood and wife, Alexia of Dickinson; brother, Edburn Faircloth and wife, Barbara of Cave Junction, Oregon, Edward Faircloth and wife, Pam of Houston; sister, Jacquelyn Meadows and husband, Robert of Crockett; stepfather, Jack Fleming of Crockett; grandchildren, Brittny Searle and family of San Leon, Gabrielle Searle of San Leon, Rachael Young and family of Texas City, Cody Booth and family of Santa Fe, Robert Booth and family, Jared Wood and Charissa Wood of Dickenson.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her father, Ebb Faircloth; mother, Wilma Fleming; and son-in-law, Robert Booth.
