Winston Bruce Lewis, II, 75, of Saginaw, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024, at home, with family by his side.
Bruce was born in Austin, TX, and grew up in Orange, TX, graduating from Stark High School. He attended Harding University, in Searcy, AR, where he met his wife, Frances. After marriage, they eventually moved to Orange, Texas, and then Weatherford, Oklahoma, before retiring back to Texas near their children and grandchildren.
In Orange, Bruce served as a minister at the 9th & Elm Church of Christ from 1976 to 1993. He began his ministry there leading the youth group, and later served as the preaching minister. In that capacity, he led over a dozen mission trips to the Navajo and Hopi reservations in New Mexico and Arizona. He loved serving the people in his hometown and in the church where he grew up.
He later served as the preaching minister at the Weatherford Church of Christ in Weatherford, OK, from 1994 to 2014. There he was significantly involved in the community. He was a member of the Rotary Club where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow. He hosted the city’s July 4th celebrations in the park for many years. Bruce loved that he got to participate weekly in the Conversation Corner on KWEY where he updated the community on the things that were happening at all of the churches in Weatherford. He loved the Weatherford community and the way of life there.
Bruce and Frances were married for nearly 55 years, ending only upon her death in March of 2024. They have four children, nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Bruce is survived by son Matthew (Diana) Lewis; son Sophorn Pich; daughter Kimberly (Andrew) Chavez; and like-a-son Derrick (Tamara) Long. Grandchildren: Logan Lewis, Lauren Lewis, Jonathan-Lewis Pich, Jacob-Lewis Pich, Joshua-Lewis Pich, Jesselyn Pich, Kadin Long, Kynlee Long, Kamryn Long. Great-granddaughter Julianne Frances Pich. Sister Judy (Jim) McReynolds and many more loving family members. He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances; his parents, Winston Lewis and Carmon Lewis, and his brother, Timothy Lewis.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, December 14, at 10:00 am at Lower Chireno Cemetery in Chireno, Texas. A reception will follow at the Chireno Community Center.
