Brenda Goldsberry Obituary

Funeral services for Brenda Goldsberry, 70, of Nacogdoches will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Mrs. Goldsberry passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 in Houston.

Brenda was born in Lufkin, the daughter of John and Lola Beatrice Kerr.  She was raised in Douglass where she graduated from high school.  She was active in cheerleading and enjoyed her years at Douglass ISD.  Brenda knew she had a passion for learning and decided her career should be in teaching.  She graduated with her Masters Degree of education and began her journey in the field.  After years of being an educator, she attained one additional Masters Degree and was happy to serve as an Educational Diagnostician.  She loved her work and the years spent dedicated to children in local towns brought her great joy.  She retired from teaching in 1991.

In 1971, not long after graduating from high school, she married the love of her life, Jimmy Goldsberry.  They loved and supported each other and never left the other’s side.  Brenda was blessed to have Jody be a part of the family and she loved him dearly.  When Jimmy and Brenda found out they would be parents of yet another little boy, they knew their family was complete.  Jason and Jody were Brenda’s single most cherished accomplishments.  She loved them dearly and did everything possible to make sure they had all they needed.  They enjoyed summers camping in Colorado and Arkansas, along with many other adventures.  She was proud of the men they became and valued the relationships she had with their wives.  Brenda had a great sense of humor and loved cooking.  She showed unconditional love and was always available when she was needed.   She also spent many Sundays playing the piano and organ at church, which she was very talented at.

In 2013, Brenda had to say goodbye to her best friend and losing Jimmy was devastating to her.  She learned to deal with her sadness by reading the Bible and working on her sewing projects.  She always enjoyed a beautiful yard full of blooms and plants.  Brenda’s life was filled with devotion to her children and countless others that she taught and helped through the years.  She will always be remembered as the lady who not only taught but loved and supported everyone she was around.

Brenda is survived by her sons, Jason Goldsberry and wife Lindsey of Huntsville and Jody Goldsberry and wife, Mary of Burleson; sister, Bobbie Joyce King and husband, Robert II of Douglass; grandchildren, Cameron & Renee Goldsberry, Jackson Goldsberry and Brandon Goldsberry; and great grandchildren, Marlee Goldsberry and Sophia Goldsberry

She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Jimmy Goldsberry; brother, Monte Kerr and his wife, Bonnie and sister, Beatrice Kerr and her husband, Roland.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Goldsberry, Jody Goldsberry, John Andrews, Bobby King, Daniel Lopez and Scott Vautrain.
