Brenda Cook Obituary

Brenda Lee Cook, 60, of Nacogdoches passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 in Nacogdoches.  She was born on March 31, 1961 in Levittown, New Jersey.  Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Brenda was raised by her parents to be a respectful and responsible young woman.  Her father was a Major in the United States Air Force and retired after sacrificing 20 years for his beloved country.  Brenda and her brother, Brian was afforded the opportunity to see many things and live in several locations during their dad’s tenure.  Brenda was always very proud of her dad for serving his country for so many years and held him in the highest of regards.

Brenda met and married Michael Lewis Cook and would spend 32 years making memories.  They also lived in several different locations but eventually settled in Nacogdoches where they were very proud homeowners who took pride in the upkeep, renovation and sustainability of their property.  Many days, others would pass by and see all the work they were putting into making their own little homestead just like they wanted it.  Brenda had a passion for flowers and plants and thoroughly enjoyed having a large garden to supply herself and her family with vegetables each year.  However, Brenda’s greatest accomplishment was her children.  She was the mother of 2 boys and 2 girls and she loved them all dearly.  Raising them, she found great joy in the hours they would spend talking and playing their favorite board games and she always had something wonderful cooked for them to enjoy.  Her chocolate chip cookies were the best and always a treat that she kept available.  Brenda also enjoyed crafts which included painting and pottery.  She was also very resourceful and loved taking things apart to see how they worked and then putting them back together.

Brenda found that there was nothing better than being a “Grammy” when her only grandchild was born and Oliver made her days brighter.  She was overjoyed when he was with her.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Michael Cook of Nacogdoches; children, David Cook & wife, Itzayana of McAllen, John Cook & wife, Charity Brown of Henderson, Sarah Cook & fiancé Beau Kitchen of San Antonio and Esther Cook of Nacogdoches; grandson, Oliver Cook of Henderson and brother, Brian Jersak & wife, Xiaolei of Washington.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Rosemary and George Jersak.
