Funeral service for Bobby Lynn Porter, 65, of Nacogdoches, will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 25, 2021, at Woden United Pentecostal Church with Bro. Rankin, Bro. Orlin McClain, and Bro. Dewayne Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Douglass Cemetery.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday, June 25, 2021, at Woden United Pentecostal Church.

Bobby Lynn Porter, WOW, where to begin?

Bobby was born into this world on August 19, 1955, at Memorial Hospital to his wonderful parents here in the big city of Nacogdoches, Texas. His parents took him to their small, but loving home, located at 624 Harris Street. Who would have ever believed in a million years that “Bob” would actually leave this world from the same house he had arrived as an infant, 65 years later.

Bobby grew up fast, as he began working early in life helping his grandparents with their nursery business. He then married his wonderful wife at the early age of 18 and his wife, Karleen at the age of 14.

Bobby worked several different jobs here in Nacogdoches, Texas and gave every boss he had a day’s work for a day’s pay. Bobby and Karleen had a wonderful daughter that passed away early in life but neither gave up on living for God.

Bobby loved to be outdoors and visit with friends while remembering and discussing the past.

Bobby was a giver and helper to anyone who was in need and was pretty good at doing a lot of things (as long as his wife was there to supervise him (haha)).

Bobby loved GOD, his wife and daughter, then the rest of his friends and family, as one should.  Bobby was stricken later in life with an illness that he could not overcome, despite the wishes of his family members.

Bobby will be missed dearly by all his family and friends but is now in a place that is beyond words.  

Bobby is survived by his wife, Karleen Kay Porter; mother, Betty Mae Spurgeon Porter; sisters, Teresa King and husband, Eddie and Dena Allen and husband, Randy; brother, Terry Porter and wife, Kathy; sister-in-law, Rebecca Rowe; and brothers-in-law, Benny Wayne Rapsilver and wife, Sissy, Karl Rapsilver and wife, Kimberly, and Harold Rapsilver and wife, Dianne.

Bobby is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Perry Porter and daughter, Jennifer Lynn Porter.

Serving as pallbearers will be Harold Rapsilver, Karl Rapsilver, Benny Rapsilver, Lil’ Harold Rapsilver, Cody Rose, Randy Allen, Jason Allen and Terry Porter.
