Bobbie Jean (Hutchison) Solomon

Funeral services for Bobbie Jean (Hutchison) Solomon, 91, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Laird Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Jerry Wilson. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00pm on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Laird Funeral Home.

Bobbie Jean (Hutchison) Solomon grew up in the Long Pine Community. She attended and graduated from Central Heights High School. Bobbie married the love of her life, Hollis “Bay” Solomon, on September 13, 1951. The couple had 67 wonderful years together before his passing in 2018. Together they raised four daughters. Bobbie took care of everyone in the family. She enjoyed quilting in her free time. And being a product of The Great Depression, she sewed all of the girls’ clothes while they were growing up.  She was frugal but still saw to it that the girls had all they needed. Bobbie was an avid gardener and took care of the animals on the farm. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maw Maw could sit for hours listening to stories about those grandbabies. Bobbie was a great Southern cook. Her family will truly miss her chicken fried steak meals. Bobbie had a servant’s heart and spent many hours volunteering at Nacogdoches Treatment Center and as a dispatcher for Central Heights Volunteer Fire Department. She touched the lives of so many during her time on earth. Bobbie will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Bobbie is survived by her daughters, Helen Hughes and husband, Bill of Pearland, Sally Carter and husband, Mark of Bullard, and Jeanne Atencio and husband, Mark of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Holly & Adam Johanson, Allyson & Bradley Lewis, Morgan Atencio, Josh & Hannah Hughes, Russell Rydman, Robert & Angelic Rydman, and Ryan Rydman & Charles Sydnor; great grandchildren, Tyler Johanson, Avery Johanson, Kai Hughes, and Laney Lewis; sister, Annie Lowry; sister-in-law, Shelby Solomon; and longtime caregiver, Marie Wingate; along with many nieces, nephews, and other family and close friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Solomon; daughter, Donna Rydman; one infant son; her parents, Robert Lee and Georgia Mae (Banks) Hutchison; and son-in-law, Mike Rydman.

Serving as pallbearers will be Russell Rydman, Robert Rydman, Ryan Rydman, Josh Hughes, Adam Johanson, and Tyler Johanson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Hughes, Mark Carter, Mark Atencio, Bradley Lewis, Charles Sydnor, Kai Hughes, and Gary Stephens.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bobbie’s memory to the Nacogdoches Treatment Center.
