Mr. Wright passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 in Nacogdoches. He was born on August 4, 1931 in Boyd, Texas.
Bob Wright was a humble and God-fearing man. He was poised but always brought a good laugh to those around him. He was dedicated to his family and loved them without measure. He especially found joy in the laughter and love of his grandchildren, who called him “Papa”. When he was surrounded by the little ones, he could be found on the floor playing with or reading to them. He was the ultimate entertainer! To his children, he was a man of his word, always putting them foremost in his life. He taught them how to be good humans in general. He was a great influencer to their character, work ethics, religion, and charity towards others. They all learned many lessons, not only from watching as he doted on their mamma, but also from the random acts of kindness that Bob demonstrated. This was more abundantly apparent in his later years as he followed The Lord’s calling by visiting people in hospitals, rehabs and nursing homes, for as long as he was able. The church was a large part of his life, and his dedication was exemplary. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and his faith showed in all aspects of his life.
Bob honorably served in United States Army between 1952 and 1954, during the Korean Conflict, where he became a Platoon Drill Sargeant at Fort Leonard Wood in Springfield, Missouri. When he returned home, he spent 30 years as a pharmaceutical salesman with Southwestern Drug and Jefferson Drug in East Texas.
Bob is survived by his children, Sharon Wright, Johnny Wright, Alan Wright & wife, Sharon, Belinda Wright Hykel and Bob Wright & wife, Micki; 8 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; sisters, Avinell Ray and Nina Henderson and sisters-in-law, Linda Wright, Billie Wright and Janice Miller.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Juanita “Nita” Miller Wright; parents, Johnny Marion & Bessie Wright; brothers, Marion Wright, Elmo Wright and William “Bill” Wright; sister, Naomi Washburn; brothers-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Miller, Raymond Miller, Jack Ray, Sam Dutton and Paul Washburn; and sisters-in-law, Ruby Miller, Mary Dutton and Evelyn Wright.
