Betty Jo (Sigler) Rife

Betty Jo (Sigler) Rife, 86, of Nacogdoches, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, in Nacogdoches. She was born on September 17, 1939, in Cheyenne, Wyoming to the late Claud Franklin and Beatrice (Peacock) Sigler. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at New Hope Congregational Methodist Church.

Betty Was a long time resident of Nacogdoches, TX.

She grew up in Nacogdoches after moving here with her parents when her father retired from the Army.  Then she moved away when she married and returned to care for her father when her mother passed away.  

She received her RN from Baylor in Waco then worked as a nurse for many years at General Mexia Hospital. Nursing and teaching young medical professionals while raising 3 children. Later also working as a consultant for care homes in the Mexia area. After retirement, she spent many years taking care of grandchildren.

She was a member of the Congregational Methodist church all her life. She spent many years at New Hope in Nacogdoches where her father served as deacon and her grandfather had served as pastor.

She loved and served the Lord faithfully all her life.

Betty is survived by her children, Christine Sloop and husband, Ron, Mary Carden, Stan Rife and wife, Linda, Martha Bowers; grandchildren, Christie Dabney, Katherine Wickware and husband, Jermaine, MaKayla Sloop, Kellie Crawley, Rusti Salazar and husband, Fernando, James Knight and wife, Audra, John Knight, Angela Godwin and husband, Chris, Jessica May, Harvey Bowers, Eric Bowers, Sarah Pullen and husband, Patrick; great-grandchildren, Jalen Wickware and wife, Randi, Kiara Wickware, Valezka Crawley, Ziyun Wright, Shaylen Abraham, Jeremiah Salazar, Elijah Salazar, Aniah Salazar, Claude Knight, Allen Knight, Jacob Godwin, Aaliyah Pullen, Isaiah Pullen, Elijah Pullen, and Josiah Pullen.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Bea Sigler; husband, S.H. Rife; and daughter, Kathy Morrison.
