Betty Jean (Henson) McShan

Graveside service for Betty Jean Henson McShan, 89, of Garrison, will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Alazan Cemetery.  Betty passed away on February 25, 2023 in Garrison.  She was born September 26, 1933 in Nacogdoches.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother.  She grew up in Alazan and went to school in Nacogdoches. She married Jimmy in 1955 and they would spend 62 wonderful years in Nacogdoches together.  She loved spending time outside tending her flower and vegetable gardens.  She enjoyed listening to gospel music, spending time in the Word, attending Trinity Baptist Church and preparing special desserts for the family.  She was very proud of her children and grandchildren.  She kept scrapbooks of all their notes, drawings, newspaper clips and accomplishments. She cherished spending time with her family most.

Mrs. McShan is survived by her daughter, Nancy West & husband, Jim of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Cory West & wife, Jody, of Ft. Worth, Brandon West & wife, Heather, of The Colony, Heather Cody & husband, Tyler, of Damon, and Heath Parker, of Nacogdoches; great grandchildren, Heath Allen, Ava, Emma, Ashlin, and Brinley; brother-in-law, Ralph McShan; sister-in-law, Helen Duplantis & husband, Errol, of Louisiana.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends that she held close to her heart.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy McShan; children, David McShan and Rita Parker; parents, Buchanan & Mary L. Henson and siblings, Guy Henson, Estel Henson & wife, Laverne, Buchanan Henson, Jr. & wife, Vivian, Jake Henson & wife, LaMerle, and Audrey Adams & husband, Ray.
