B.D. Meadows Obituary

Funeral services for B.D. Meadows, 91, of Etoile will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Laird Funeral Home.  Graveside will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Garden of Memories in Lufkin, Texas.  A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Laird Funeral Home. Mr. Meadows passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025 in Nacogdoches.

Mr. Meadows was born on November 11, 1933 in Wells, Texas to Henry Meadows and Evie Davis–Meadows.

As a young man, B.D. honorably served in the U.S. Army as a medic.  He then began his career at the Port of Houston, working for ILA Local #1273 and retired after 30 years of dedicated service.

Upon retiring, he moved back to his beloved East Texas to enjoy his hobbies which included playing 42 and crappie fishing.  Later, he also found great enjoyment in hunting and spending time with his friends at the deer lease.

B.D. took great pride in being involved in his community of Etoile.  He was a member of the Etoile Volunteer Fire Department and actively served alongside Mr. Harold Nelson and Mr. Jim Carr as a member of the Etoile School Board.  He did this during the years his granddaughter was in school.

B.D. was very much a family man.  He loved spending time not only with his late wife, Helen, but raising two of his grandchildren as his own.  He was the only father figure they had in their life and he lived up to being a great dad to them.  However, the biggest and most important lesson he taught them was to love the Lord.  He not only taught them this but lived it out in front of them as a member of The Living Church of God.

B.D. is survived by his daughters, Doylene Brady and Denise Allemang; grandchildren, Bret Marie Bradbury, Raymond G. Brady, Alicia Moore & husband Johnny and Billy Allemang; great-grandchildren, Nicole Moore, Baylee Moore & husband Jerry, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Marie Bradbury and Amelia Allemang and sister, Babe Vaughn.  He is also survived by 3 very special children, Bryson, Krisslynn and Emberly, along with their mother, Chelseay, who he has come to love dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his late wife Helen and 5 siblings and their spouses.
