Ann Murray Obituary

A memorial service for Ann Myrna Murray, 88, of Nacogdoches will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 10 at First United Methodist Church in Nacogdoches.

Mrs. Murray passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024.

Ann was born on March 4, 1936, to Ethel and Wilfred Heavingham in Romford, Essex, United Kingdom, and grew up in London, England.

Ann moved from London to Beirut, Lebanon in 1956 where she married Michael Salim Chehadé and raised her two daughters, Vanessa and Mickey. After moving back to England, Ann married Samuel Murray in 1980 and worked for the National Health Services. After retiring, she moved to Nacogdoches in 1997 to be close to her family. During her 27 years in East Texas, Ann cherished her time serving the local community, especially First United Methodist Church where she volunteered at the church office and was involved in the Stephen Ministry. She joyfully served Nacogdoches Newcomers and Friends, the Federation of Women’s Clubs, and the Pines Garden Club

Ann was an avid soccer fan and always watched and cheered for Arsenal F.C.. She also enjoyed spending time with her cats and playing cards with friends.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents Ethel and Wilfred Heavingham and her husband Samuel Murray. She is survived by her children Vanessa Winder (Pete), Mickey Chehadé, and their brother Michael Chehadé; grandchildren Hassan Al-Rifai (Rima), Ashley Winder, Adella Al-Dehneh (Christopher), Shatha Titus (James); and great-grandchildren, Sammie, Zein, and Aya.
