Andrew Wenner Obituary

Drew Wenner, 76, died August 18, 2021in his hometown of Nacogdoches, TX. He was a member of Austin Heights Baptist Church.

He and his wife, Sue, married in 1969 in Nacogdoches after meeting at Stephen F. Austin State University. They were both Rodeo Club members in the late 1960’s and for 44 years enjoyed owning horses. They both were longtime equestrians and fox hunted with Nacogdoches Hound and Hunt and Longreen Foxhounds in Rossville, Tennessee.

Drew’s favorite thing to do was jam with Sue and the other Old Time musicians at the General Mercantile and Old Time String Shop on Saturday afternoons on the square in Nacogdoches. He played the guitar, mandolin and clawhammer banjo. He was also a long-time member of Nacogdoches County Democrats and participated in many voter registration drives at local festivals, on campus at SFA and other community events. He was an avid Ladyjack basketball fan and had season tickets for many years.

Drew is survived by his wife, Sue; daughters, Dr. Melinda Wenner, and her husband Deric Peveto, and Dr. Andrea Wenner, and her husband Philip Habig. He was especially proud of his 15 month old granddaughter, Ruby Sue Habig.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
