Adell went to be with her Christ and Savior on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. She was born on November 8, 1933, in Nacogdoches to Jim and Rosa Francis. Adell grew up in Douglass where she graduated high school and then went on to attend Panola Junior College and East Texas State University where she earned her Bachelor of Education in 1977 and her Master of Education in 1988. During her youth in Douglass, she met a wonderful man at church. She and Gerald Sitton became best of friends and were married on December 24, 1951. From that day forward, their life was filled with memories as they made their home wherever his job took them. Adell always loved to speak about the time they spent in Alaska, but ultimately, East Texas was their home. She spent 20 years teaching and their family grew to include their daughter, Pam and son, Tom. Together, they made sure to teach both Pam and Tom to be independent, loving, responsible people. In the years following, Tom added Treasa to the mix and Adell loved her dearly. In 1992, when both Gerald and Adell retired, they were finally able to come home to the peace and simple living they longed for and became an active part of their church family at First Baptist Church. In 1996, they tragically lost their only son, Tom, when he was killed while working as a Sheriff’s Deputy here in Nacogdoches. Gerald and Adell, although devastated, knew their greatest joys would come from loving their daughter Pam, bonus daughter, Treasa and all the grandchildren more than ever. In 2005, Pam joined them in Nacogdoches which made it even easier for Adell to spoil them with her wonderful cooking, teach them how to garden and spent many days sitting outside with them as they spoke of all the memories they have made throughout the years. Pam and the grandchildren treasured the times they had with their MeeMaw and will forever remember her as a woman who put Jesus Christ first in her life, loved her family without boundaries, had a fierce passion for the simple way of life and always passed on advice when they needed it.
