Mary Beth (Smith) Torres

Mary Beth (Smith) Torres, 73, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, in her home in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born on November 3, 1951, in Houston, Texas, to the late Tommie Haywood and Evelyn Faye (Garrett) Smith. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mary Beth grew up in Houston, Texas. Her family moved to the Nacogdoches area when she was 14 years old. She attended Nacogdoches High School for a time. Mary Beth enjoyed spending time outdoors when she was younger, often fishing and gardening. She was a lover of animals and leaves behind several beloved pets, especially her sweet dog, Macy. Mary Beth loved her family and cherished the time she had loving on all her grandbabies. She always welcomed every soul with a smile. Nanny Beth, as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren and everyone who loved her, was a strong woman who led her family. For the past 12 years, Mary Beth has had a loving companion by her side. Thomas Smith was her devoted friend and partner. He has taken great care of her for many years and was her rock to lean on when her health deteriorated. Her family is truly grateful for Thomas. Mary Beth will be missed greatly by her family, friends, and anyone who knew her.

Mary Beth is survived by her companion, Thomas Smith; daughters, Kimberly Bates and husband, Kelvin, and Rhonda Adams; grandchildren, Erica Innis, Christian Morgan and wife, Casey, Justin Colwell, Marla Porter, Britney Porter and husband, Devin, Matthew Porter, Meagen Durbin, and Tyler Durbin; great grandchildren, Natalie Delgado, Terrance Roberts, Eric Stevenson, Landon Morgan, Noemi Colwell, Cole Patton, Mackenzie Morgan, Kaiden Colwell, Hunter Morgan, Rayleigh Morgan, Maribella Boehmer, Kelby Porter, Mary Jane Colwell, Haizen Colwell, Kayson Colwell, Olivia Porter, and Rylie Porter; great great grandchild, Adrian Juarez; sisters, Micki Grossman and husband, Raymond, Dottie Smith, Gale Hawkins and husband, Mel, and Lisa Levings; and brothers, Tommy Smith and wife, Trisha, and Timmy Smith and wife, Ruby.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Tommie and Evelyn Smith; and her daughter, Stephanie Denise Durbin.
